Respite

Respite Care offers planned, occasional relief to family caregivers of adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities residing in Maryland. Care is provided in the respite care home located in a residential neighborhood and in the family’s home.

Services provided include supervision, personal care assistance as needed, and opportunities for activities. Respite is an excellent resource for families in need of occasional relief but also is a great socialization opportunity for individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Respite care may be used on an hourly or overnight basis, up to 20-days per year, as funding permits. All supports are individually designed to respond to the needs and desires and to reflect an appreciation of the individual’s unique personality.

The objectives of the program are designed to assist in the development of skills, which will enable the individuals served to live in the least restrictive environment with the proper supports that meet their needs. Residential Support Services areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Management – Budgeting
  • Life Management Education
  • Community Integration Activities
  • Transportation/Mobility Training
  • Behavior Support
  • Case Management
