Community Developmental Services
Community Developmental Services (CDS) offer habilitative services for adults with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities residing in Maryland.
The program is structured to assist in the development and maintenance of skills, which will enable the individuals served to engage in community-based activities with people without disabilities and foster membership. It also works to provide social supports to participants to obtain competitive integrated employment opportunities within the community. Services provided may include, but are not limited to:
- Activities that facilitate and promote integration and inclusion in the participant’s chosen community. This will also enable the identification of a path to employment via interaction and training.
- Self-Advocacy Courses and Activities
- Transportation and/or Mobility training
- Life Management Education
- Community Integration Activities
- Volunteering at a Place of Interest
- Paid or Unpaid Internship Placement or Acquisition
- Coupled hygiene and personal care training (accompanies life management education)
